A Comfortable, Warm Home

About Me

A Comfortable, Warm Home

Mild weather is one of the things I love the best about the southern United States. I’ve lived in this region of the country all of my life. During the winter season, I rarely see snow or sleet. In fact, I sometimes wear short sleeves during the cold weather months. However, I occasionally need to bundle up in one of my favorite, colorful coats, jackets, or sweaters. And, I also have to run my heater at nighttime. Thankfully, my husband and I scheduled an appointment with an HVAC contractor this past fall, so we are confident that our heater will last through the winter. On this blog, I hope you will discover the most common solutions to a broken heating system. Enjoy!

What Do You Get From An HVAC Upgrade?

If you have an old, noisy HVAC system or you get hit with a major repair bill, you may be faced with the decision of whether it's time for an upgrade. You shouldn't just make the decision based on whatever is cheaper at the moment. An HVAC system upgrade could actually turn into an investment for the future. Here's what you get when you upgrade your HVAC system.

Greater Reliability

Like most things, new HVAC systems are far more reliable. They simply don't have the wear and tear from years of hard work that make breakdowns more likely.

Coupled with less breakdowns is less costs. While a single repair might be far cheaper than an HVAC upgrade, those repair bills can start adding up if you have to keep calling out a technician.

You'll also cut down your stress. You won't have to worry about being faced with a sudden, unexpected bill or whether your heater will be able to make it through a cold winter deep freeze.

Lower Energy Bills

Did you know that a new heating or cooling system could slash your energy bills in half or more? The reason is that most homes have their original HVAC system, and many of these homes were built when energy prices were far cheaper.

Because of the low energy prices, there was simply no emphasis placed on making HVAC systems energy efficient. As energy prices went up, the government started imposing strict energy efficiency requirements on HVAC manufacturers. The manufacturers also went beyond these requirements as they tried to position their models as the most efficient on the market.

If you have an older HVAC system, ask your HVAC contractor to calculate the possible annual energy savings from a new system.

New Features

Energy efficiency isn't the only technological improvement HVAC systems have made. There are thermostats you can control from your phone, variable speed systems, and central systems that can put out different temperatures in different rooms.

Some of these features can be added to an existing HVAC system. However to take full advantage of modern technology, you'll want to upgrade to a new system.

Added Comfort

One of the most important reasons to upgrade is for your comfort. You can use some of the energy savings to keep your home at a more comfortable temperature while the technological improvements eliminate those annoying temperature swings when the system turns on and off.
